TOP CAJUNS SOFTBALL HOME RUN HITTERS. #5 D.J. SANDERS — 67 HOME RUNS

Nov 13, 2021

D.J. Sanders is a 3 year letter winner from 2015-2017 at short-stop for head coach Mike Lotief, then transferred after Coach Mike’s last season to Oregon for her senior season. But her best days offensively, were as a Cajun.

D.J. will forever be known for her leadership skills and abilities, not only on the softball field, but more notably, off of the field were she served on and spearheaded many initiatives to promote diversity and equity. Because of these “character” talents and skills, D.J. was a member of Team U.S.A., Athletes United, and now part of multiple college coaching staffs (Missouri, Mississippi State).

As a freshman, her .290 batting average ranked last among starters, but after her junior season, she was a 1st team All-American, 29 HRS, 82 RBI, 1.013 slugging %.

D.J’s most memorable Home Run as a Cajun may very well be one of her last at bats versus L.S.U. In the 2017 NCAA Regionals in Baton Rouge, she hit an opposite field home run in the 5th inning to give her team the lead and the win.

D.J. has played professional softball, most recently, with Athletes United.

D.J. is from Columbus, Mississippi and the daughter of Donnie & Renee’ Sanders.
