CONGRATS Rachel! I’ve been friends with Rachel for a long time; picking her brain for functional movement ideas and exercises for about 10 years and being co-presenters at Slugfest 2018. She is brilliant and a fierce competitor and a tireless worker. When U.L. appointed me to the search committee in 2016 with the objective to create a new position and hire a new strength coach to HEAD UP & OVERSEE ALL Olympic Sports, my first phone call was to Rachel. Well, to make a long story short- they did not listen to me and in fact, they did not even interview her. BTW, she didn’t want to work with softball directly because her passion was baseball – and she was immensely qualified. At the time she was the head strength coach for the Houston Astro’s in the Dominican Republic. Nevertheless, I wanted so badly to break the glass ceiling at U.L., but breaking it with the N.Y. YANKEES “ain’t that shabby”. We are so proud of your courage to lead the way and provide tomorrow’s stepping stones.
